FunBuzzer™ System?

  • Do we need a computer to run the FunBuzzer™ game show buzzer system?
No. The FunBuzzer™ is a stand–alone system. However, you can use it along with many of the software/video game packages available on the market today.

  • What is involved in setting up the FunBuzzer™?
Setting up the FunBuzzer™ system can be compared to connecting speakers to a home entertainment system. Each of the Remote Units has a 20-foot cord to connect it to a pair of terminals on the Control Unit. The terminals are extremely simple to operate; push down on a paddle, insert the wire into the opening, and release the paddle. Spread out the Remote Units among the contestants, plug the wall transformer power pack of the Control Unit into an AC outlet, and you are ready to play.

  • I purchased two Remote Units and would like to add more players. Can I add more Remote Units?
You can add more Remote Units of any style—mix or match—at any time, up to a total of eight Remote Units.

  • We want to play as teams rather than as individuals. Can we do that with FunBuzzer™?
Yes. We offer four different "Team 5" Remote Unit styles that are excellent for team play. The "Team 5" Table–Top Remote Units and "Team 5" Wand Remote Units indicate which team rings in first. The "Team 5 Plus" Table–Top Remote Units and "Team 5 Plus" Wand Remote Units indicate the winning team member of the team which rang in first.

  • How can we know which player buzzes in first in team play?
This is where the FunBuzzer™ "Team 5 Plus" products come into service. They not only lock out all other responses but are equipped with individual player lights that indicate which team player responds first.

  • The FunBuzzer™ Remote Units come with 20 feet of cord, but some of my contestants need to be further away. Is it possible to extend the cord? Yes, you can extend the cord length. We offer two Extender Cords as accessories that will do this job. They come in 30–foot and 80–foot lengths which can be used in multiples to achieve the desired distance.

  • How long does the light on the Remote Unit stay on after someone pushes the button?
When the first contestant buzzes in, the light on his or her Remote Unit will light. The light remains lit until the reset button on the Control Unit is pressed. This is usually done by the game moderator when the question is finished and the system is to be reset for the next question. Until the system is reset, the FunBuzzer™ system will accept no further responses.

  • I have a siren, a bell, and some other special effects that I want to actuate from my contestant positions. Is there a simple way I can connect them to the FunBuzzer™ system?
You can use the accessory Relay Modules we offer. Just insert one Relay Module into each Remote Unit line. You can connect almost any auxiliary device, such as your siren and bell, to the relay leads. When the red button on the Remote is pressed, the relay contacts close and the appropriate device (siren or bell, etc. in your case) is activated, along with the bright light on the Remote unit. The auxiliary device will remain activated until the FunBuzzer™ system is reset.

  • We use our FunBuzzer™ system for both practice and competition. For competition, having the loud buzzer is an asset, but for practice, it sometimes interferes with other nearby activities. How do we turn down the sound?
The FunBuzzer™ uses a piezoelectric beeper to make the BRAAP sound you hear, and that sound comes out of the hole on the end of the FunBuzzer™ Control Unit. The sound from one of these beepers can be almost completely silenced just by covering up the hole. In fact, an effective "volume control" is just to put a piece or two of tape over part or all of the hole to achieve the loudness you desire.
